Choosing Your Decking & Railing
We build with TimberTech decking and Westbury aluminum railing. The right combination depends on your home’s style, sun exposure, outdoor activities and project budget. We help you compare physical samples and specify the selected collection, color and railing system in your written proposal.
TimberTech capped composite decking
Composite boards combine wood fibers and polymers with a protective cap. They offer wood-inspired colors and textures without the regular sanding, staining and sealing associated with wood decking. Collections differ in grain, color variation, board profile and warranty coverage. We help you choose the look and construction details that suit your project.
TimberTech Advanced PVC decking
Advanced PVC is a different material from wood-plastic composite: its core contains no wood fibers. It is an option to discuss for projects where moisture exposure and material choice are priorities. Compare the actual boards alongside composite samples before deciding; available colors, textures and profiles vary by collection.
Westbury aluminum railing
Westbury’s powder-coated aluminum railing, including the Tuscany system, creates a clean finished edge with slender balusters and an open view. We coordinate the railing color, posts, stair sections and handrails with your deck and local requirements. Ask about a drink-rail detail if you want a broader top surface; compatibility depends on the chosen system.
Colors, borders and finish details
Start with your siding, trim and landscape. A contrasting picture-frame border can define the deck’s edge, while coordinated fascia and stair risers finish the perimeter. View samples outdoors in both shade and sunlight. All decking can become hot in direct sun, so consider shade and barefoot use alongside color.
Low maintenance still includes care
Plan on periodic cleaning and routine checks of the deck, railing and framing. Follow the care instructions for your exact product; approved cleaners, brushes and washing methods differ. Deck boards alone do not waterproof the space below an elevated deck. For a more usable patio beneath, discuss an underdeck ceiling and drainage system.
What your material selection includes
Your proposal identifies the decking and railing selection, compatible fastening method and included finish details. Manufacturer warranty terms vary by product and cover different issues from our two-year workmanship warranty, which is subject to your written agreement. We review the applicable documents with you rather than relying on a single blanket warranty claim.

Sleek Grain Patterns
Grain patterns vary by TimberTech collection. Compare actual samples to choose a straight or more varied grain that suits your home.
Artisanal Textures
Some collections offer a hand-scraped appearance. Confirm the texture and available colors for the specific collection in your proposal.
Crosscut Precision
Use physical samples to compare the board profile and surface pattern. Appearance varies by collection; the selected product determines the finished look.
Subtle Textural Depth
Surface texture and color can look different in shade and sunlight. View samples outdoors before confirming your choice.
Dynamic Grain Variations
Color variation and grain are intentional design features in some collections. Look at several boards or samples to understand how the pattern will repeat across your deck.
